What We Collect
TACO members collect a wide range of art, depending on our interests, goals, and resources. The common interest we all share is collecting Early Texas Art. Some members collect it as a component of their overall collection while others exclusively collect Early Texas Art. Our general guideline as to what we consider Early Texas Art is fine art created in Texas or by Texans more than 40 years ago.
In terms of styles, the Early Texas Art in the homes of TACO members ranges widely and includes 19th century genre paintings, impressionism, regionalism, precisionism, modernism and abstract expressionism. You might also find pieces of folk art, works by African American and Hispanic artists, and many other varieties. As for media, you will find prints, drawings, paintings, and sculpture. Many of our members have complementary collecting interests such as antiques, pottery, Native American, and Texana.
